Locks of Love

Well it's only taken me 3 YEARS to grow my hair long enough to cut it for Locks of Love! Here are the before and afters! Jake took the first pics and Lesley gave up her morning and took pics at the salon. Thank you to Emmy to for coming to lend a little moral support!
Thank you again Lesley for taking pictures!

First Half of Spring Break

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

This Spring Break we are here at home. Aaron's mom, Melinda, is here so we have been doing "touristy" things around Midland. We went to the Rattlesnake Round up in Sweetwater, TX (only the largest rattlesnake round up in the WORLD!)
Us trying fried rattlesnake
Melinda couldn't do it, she sure tried though
Jake loved it and asked for more, but we just couldn't get Maddy to even think about trying it.
We went to the Petroleum Museum yesterday.

Aaron's brother and sister in-law get here today, and Jake has his first baseball scrimmage this evening so there will be more to come!

Jake's Thomas Edison Presentation

Jake's gifted&talented class gave presentations today on the inventor they had researched. It was fun to see all they had learned. Here are some pictures of Jake's presentation. If you have questions you can ask them via email or on the comment section here I am sure he would love to answer them!

I love the symbolism here. . . notice the University of Wyoming pennant (Jake's gift/talented teacher graduated from there) on the same wall as the TX flag.

Jake with his Thomas Edison props.
Here is a pic of Jake and I after the presentation. I hadn't planned on the photo op ;) so I am au naturale with my new 'do (I had bangs cut yesterday)

I have been trying to post the video of the presentation, I was only able to get the video to load on my facebook page so you can see it there or try this link (not sure if it will work) http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=570912849&ref=name

I will tell you it's a 3rd grade presentation so it's kinda slow, but I wanted you to have a chance to see it!

Bloggable Draperies

Really, some wouldn't need to blog about their draperies; but I do! This was my first attempt at window coverings thus the blog entry. These pictures are good, you don't need to get too close :D 'cause they aren't perfect. I finished late last night and Aaron dropped everything to help me hang them. Like he cut the mounting board and covered it and put the brackets up and then hung the thing :) Thank you Aaron! With the completion of the draperies my room decorating is done, pretty much! I painted the scripture on the wall last fall and we got the bed last spring and I am glad to be finished!

Maddy's first BIG hair cut!

Last night I was going to quickly trim Maddy's hair and she said, " I want it cut like my friend, Jessilyn's."
I said, " Really, that's pretty short? Well we can go tomorrow after school then"
So, armed with a picture of Jessilyn (who has a bob) we went to get Maddy's hair cut!

She cut right where her fingers are

I think it turned out way cute, although I haven't really styled it yet. I guess you will see more in the upcoming blog posts right?

Valentines Celebration

Friday evening Aaron and I went to our church's Valentine's Banquet and danced and laughed and had a great time. Whenever we go out, just the two of us, I am reminded even more how much I love him and what a great friend he is. Saturday Jake's baseball tryouts were postponed because of the great rain shower we got that morning so we just hung out for a bit and then went shopping for sports equipment. Jacob got a new bat and cleats and Maddison got shoes, shin guards, and a ball for soccer.
For dinner I made (our traditional v-day meal) Crawfish Ettoufee and for dessert, my special Chocolate Mousse!

El Paso GIRLS Weekend

Last weekend 9 of my closest TX girl friends and I got to go to El Paso for a Beth Moore event! We had a wonderful time. The weekend was full of memories and laughs. Tears too were present, what can you expect with 10 women (3 of whom pregnant!). At the conference we got to "trash" the trash we'd been holding onto and search for the treasure God has for us. The conference topic was based on Hebrews 10:23-25, 32-39. Great stuff! After the conference on Saturday we got to go shopping and decided to go to a movie (a VERY rare treat)! We saw Bride Wars and thought it was cute our husbands were pleased because that is one less chick flick they may be pressured to see. Here are a few pics from our weekend.
This isn't all of us (I tried) all 10 of us took up one elevator

Bethy on Saturday

Why not 3 days ago!?!

Just a minute ago I heard my dog Izzy getting into something. Since she is one of our resident vacuums I didn't do much, I figure she'd clean up something I had missed. Then I heard her come out closer to me and crunch something. I again figure I missed one of the wagon wheel pasta I served recently and was glad she found it.
30 seconds later I hear her in the pantry and hear wrappers crunching so I went over and closed the door, culprit inside. It got quiet so I opened it and as she walked out I found and open candy cane wrapper on the floor! We had a whole box of mini candy canes on the floor because I figured they were safe since they hadn't been opened. . . . well Izzy love peppermint so I am finding out.
My question is, why couldn't she have found the candy canes 3 days ago when she was sick to her stomach? It might have helped for goodness sake! Instead I am left with 2 puke spots and a half eaten box of candy canes!

Pinewood Derby!

Saturday Jacob's cub scout pack had there pinewood derby. For those that are unsure about what this is, they received a kit from there cub scout pack which contained a block of wood, wheels and axles. They (and their dads) were to make a car following some regulations. Saturday was the day the pack raced them. This was of course Jacob (and Aaron's) first attempt, but Jacob had the 4th fastest car in the entire PACK! There wasn't a trophy for that BUT there was one for 3rd place in his den! So that is the trophy he received!

"Lightning" is the one in the middle

This was the "winner's circle" the 4 best cars raced for the grand champion. Jacob came in 4th here, and the winner was the green car which was also from his den.
