Hahahaha, I am already curious about what my sister and sister in-law are going to think about this one. . . but here is my heart on some of the political MUCK.
So I am not an Obama fan, nor am I a huge McCain fan. I am however a HUGE Sara Palin fan. I do totally wish that she was at the top of the ticket, but that's not what the "people in charge" are doing hahaha ;) That said I am going to proceed with some opinions.
Did Obama mean to refer to Palin with the pig joke? No, Yes. No, he used a common saying and the audience took it the "wrong" way. Yes, I think he did mean a reference to it because he paused for laughter/applause, but I think he wanted it under the surface enough so that he could deny it. This is harder to explain than I thought. I do think that McCain/Palin had a right to be up in arms, I am tired of the Republicans laying down and taking whatever junk is thrown their way. I hope I am able to be understood, hahaha, and that you still love me, in spite of it in some cases :D
The SNL skit. . . was hilarious! I do think that McCain/Palin people were being a little touchy on this one. It's SNL, they paint everyone in a bad light! Just laugh!

You knew I was gonna.
ReplyDeleteI won't say everything I'd love to say. But let me make a quick point or two. Three tops.
The pig joke was actually a joke MCCAIN told regarding the then recent Russian leadership switch. The only reason people linked the two jokes were that Palin had said the only difference blah blah blah...lipstick. I'm sorry but I like to think I wouldn't be be nearly that touchy if the shoes were on my feet, but I can't speak for my party so I'll stop there. P.S. What R "lays down?" Maybe Fox News is on at home too much these days, but I hear NO laying down.
Second point. I won't get riled up, and again, I won't say all I'd LOVE to say.
Sarah Palin does NOT believe in a woman's right to choose, and wants to overturn Roe V Wade. I know you and I might disagree on this (of many) points. But I'm sorry. Keep your laws off my body.
Also I'm sorry but the VP has historically been THE foreign policy go-to, since a constantly travelling prez isn't smart nor safe.
Alaskan National Guard...Really?
I've heard they get into some real tough scrapes with those Eskimos from Yukon, but not sure I'd care to be represented as such to the world.
Also please can I just say in closing: McCain didn't want to miss out on the novelty vote.
Before Palin's nom, Obama was the only "first" on the ticket, and there was an excellent chance that some of the votes cast for him were for the "first factor." If McCain hadn't chosen a female, he wouldn't have been able to contend. If he'd have chosen someone of color, it would have been a bigger problem. ("Copy-Cat Backlash") Does that make sense? I highly dislike the idea that SP is "shattering the glass ceiling" by getting PICKED FOR HER PRIVATE PARTS.
No offense but as a woman with opinions, I don't want just any ole' broad representing what women since Janette Rankin have fought for. And it's not because I disagree with her fundamentals...it's the idea that 'any lady would do.'
On a lighter note, Lincoln's been referring to Palin as a V-Pilf. Charming.
I know you know me...and yes, for those that don't: this WAS a quick comment.
:) love you
Oh, buddy, there is so much I would love to say but won't just like you :)
ReplyDeleteI wrote this original piece pretty much just for you, to get your dander up. . . it worked :)
I love you always!
I'm not going to say much and leave this between you two . . . but . . .
ReplyDeleteI think you may know that I believe we should do away with political parties altogether and just vote for the best leader. Too many people choose a candidate based on their party and not their ideals, morals, etc. I am not 100% in favor of either candidate; but I do strongly lean toward Obama and am only a little fearful because of his relatively short experience in politics.
And I completely agree (with ej) that Palin was put on the ticket for the novelty. She was plucked out of thin air and that is not someone I want as a VP, or possibly the President (after all, McCain looks like he could kick the bucket at any minute.) I will not vote for her just to get the first woman VP elected.
Why I like Obama = health care plan, education plan and the fact that he seems to really want to create change.
That short political career I mentioned earlier . . . could be a good thing since he has not been spoiled by long term contact with some of the mold in our political system.
Oh, and I see Republicans fighting (and slinging) back just as much as the Dems.
That's my bit for now!
